Film Sussex is first and foremost a team of passionate and creative filmmakers. It's our mission to develop, produce, and deliver film projects for distribution. Through our dedicated people and diverse skills, we strive to bring captivating stories to life on the big screen, ensuring that audiences worldwide can experience the magic of cinema. While profit is not our primary goal, we are committed to creating high-quality films that resonate with viewers.

  • In addition to his work as a producer and editor, Craig has been teaching filmmaking across Sussex for almost 20 years.

    He has worked with students of all abilities from GCSE to undergraduate, building supportive and inclusive student communities, that adopt a student centric holistic approach.

    By fostering the individual passions and interests of his students, he works to enable their agency and confidence in order for them to become self-sufficient learners and creatives.

  • Dinah is an acclaimed costume designer, celebrated for her BAFTA and EMMY award-winning work. Known for her versatility and meticulous attention to detail, she has made significant contributions to film, television, and the stage.

    Dinah’s work on United 93 (2006) brought authenticity to the portrayal of 9/11, while in The Ghost Writer (2010), her designs enhanced the film’s tense, atmospheric tone. Her costumes in The Bourne Supremacy (2004) supported the gritty realism of the espionage world.

    Beyond film, Dinah has also designed for prestigious institutions in theatre and opera, such as the National Theatre and Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

    Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a remarkable ability to blend historical accuracy with creative flair, earning her a respected place in the industry and admiration from audiences.

  • Jennifer is an accomplished filmmaker and educator.

    She launched her career at Columbia University with a Student Academy Award-winning short film and has since produced over a dozen acclaimed features in the UK, including The Borderlands (2013) and Prevenge (2016).

    Holding a Master’s degree in Producing from USC and having worked with Fox’s International Production, Jennifer integrates creative talent with industry expertise. In addition to her film productions, she is a dedicated lecturer, having taught at institutions such as Norwich University of the Arts, and has spoken at events for Directors UK, Soho House, and the BFI.

    She continues to mentor emerging filmmakers and is preparing to direct her debut feature, Cougar, which recently received an award at the Cannes Film Market.

  • Carmen Slijpen is the Creative Director and Head of Programming at Depot Cinema in Lewes, England. She has worked in the exhibition industry for 39 years. Carmen was trained and worked initially as a 35mm projectionist before shifting her career to film programming.

    In 2012, Carmen started researching the possibility of re-establishing a cinema in Lewes. East Sussex. She found financial backing and supported the building of the 3-screen Depot cinema that opened in May 2017.

    Concerned about the venue's environmental impact, Carmen ensured that sustainability was at the core of the venue design. Depot has since become an exemplary cinema in terms of its green credentials, recognised in many national and international publications.

    Depot runs a film education & making courses for all and delivers a successful programme focussed on young people.
